Why is this so very important? There are two strong reasons. First, using the name Aloe is a powerful way to attract the attention of buyers that are aware of the benefits from the use of Aloe as an ingredient in a wide array of products that are offered to discriminating users. Many companies add only a very small amount of Aloe in their products to allure buyer to use their products. They may use only one or two percent which most likely will not offer any of the treasured benefits consumers seek. Naturally the name Aloe or a picture of an Aloe plant highly visible, will attract interested buyers! When you look carefully at the product label, you most often will find Aloe in the descending order of ingredients near the bottom very close or next to preservatives. Many preservatives are added at amounts as low as 1% or less. The second reason is that Aloe is easily adulterated or the Aloe may be improperly handled in the processing phase and the benefits may be highly diluted or rendered ineffective. Legitimate handling from the leaf being removed from the mother plant, to the last phase of processing can be of great importance in whether the product will deliver the desired results. You can now easily understand why IASC's product certification program is so very important when you look for products that will be of benefit to you. Small amounts of Aloe will help sell Aloe products and that is something that you need to beware of. Something else you should take into consideration is while we are pleased that many good companies think of adding Aloe, you should know that it may not be enough to be of benefit. Just reviewing the label will help you know the approximate amount of Aloe used in the product but it cannot tell you what may have happened with improper processing steps such as time, temperature, pressure and handling. Nothing on a label without the IASC certification seal will give you assurance of the content and purity of an Aloe product no matter how great their hype! You can send samples to IASC for testing. This is costly, approximately $200.00 U.S. per sample, which we do not recommend even though it can be done. The other way is to be aware of the label and look for the round IASC certification seal for your peace of mind. The company must use certified Aloe raw material to be able to certify a product and that product must have at least 15% Aloe for IASC to accept an application for product certification. Analytical tests include, NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) Spectroscopy, a HPLC (High Pressure Liquid Chromatography) for L malic acid, an A/A (Atomic Absorption) for calcium and magnesium and a total solids test. The buying public is becoming more sophisticate and extremely knowledgeable as time progresses and you the buying public have a right to know what your getting and have the right to expect results. The IASC certification seal is your way to have this assurance.
