Members from 10 countries attended the 19th Annual Scientific Seminar held September 7-9, 2000. Presentations by Industry leaders ranged from growing aloe organically to types of manufacturing equipment used to process aloe, along with several other topics of interest. Scientists from Japan, UK, Korea, Africa, Germany and the U.S. delivered scientific papers Saturday, September 9, 2000. The 3-day events were highlighted by a banquet Saturday night with entertainment, excellent food and a presentation of a plaque and a $10,000 check presented by Mr. Bill Lee, President and Chairman of the Board of NamYang Aloe in honor of his late father, Mr. Yun Ho Lee. This was the fourth annual merit presentation. The winner of this year's merit award was Dr. Byung Mu Lee of Korea.

Attendees received pad folios and a shoulder bag with information on events and the seminar agenda. Part of the material for attendees was an abstract of all scientific presentations. The early arrivers were welcomed to a 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. reception on Wednesday evening with snacks and drinks putting them in the mood for three full days of meetings. Thursday evening's food and fun included finger foods from around the world. Chairs were placed around conversation tables and those attending were encouraged to go from place to place where stations of differing foods from various geographical areas of the world were located. It seemed to somehow make the world a smaller place and touted the culinary delight of many nationalities joined together for a common cause. It was not uncommon to see groups of people seated around a table and chairs talking about aloe in some form or fashion.

During the program a called members meeting was placed on the agenda and conducted with messages from the 1999 - 2000 President and Chairmen of the Board. A business meeting was given to update members, which included reports from all committee chairmen. An announcement was made and a film was shown at the banquet to honor another first for the Council. The 20th Annual Scientific Seminar for the year 2001 will be the first held outside of the United States and will be held in Seoul, Korea. This falls during the year when Bill Lee will serve as IASC President. Mr. Lee who is and has been one of the staunchest supporters of the IASC. He has literally given millions of dollars toward its success and is the one person responsible for the Council being a full time business rather than a part time organization. Bill Lee's father, Mr. Yun Ho Lee, envisioned this happening years ago, and Bill has carried this banner forward.
